You're Doing Social Media All Wrong

How many reels are you going to post of yourself boosting airs or hitting kickers?

No really, how many?

Because it seems like your feed is an endless scroll of you throwing down.

We get it, you rip. Point made.

So by checking out your feed we know what you do but do you realize you are kind of blowing it on social?

Because we have no idea WHO YOU ARE.

This is one of the MOST common mistakes we see when we check out up-and-coming action sports athletes' social feeds.

Countless posts of you ripping, but zero posts that give us an inside look into what you are all about outside of your sport.

Remember when we said it takes more than winning to land sponsorships, well we were not kidding.

One of the first places, if not the FIRST place sponsors go to learn about athletes, is their social feed.

Your social media is your living breathing athlete pitch deck that you can curate every single day to tell the story of you.

And why is this important when it comes to sponsors, because this is how they get to see if what you are all about is in alignment with their brand.

So how do you turn your social feed from being just clips of you ripping (like the thousands of other rippers on social media) to helping you attract sponsors?

Follow These 3 Steps To Attract Sponsors Using Your Social Media

Step 1. Show Your Personality. Sponsors want to learn about who you are, and what your interests and passions are outside of your sport. If you are into music, art, cooking, or camping, showcase these types of posts on your feed.

Step 2. Highlight Your Favorite Products From Brands You Want To Be Sponsored By. Since sponsors automatically check out your social media feed showcase your love for that brand in an AUTHENTIC way. Meaning if you love a brand's hard goods or soft goods, make sure to showcase yourself using their products in your feed in a legit way. If they see you really use the product this will work in your favor.

Step 3. Behind The Scenes, Overcoming Struggles, Entertainment. These 3 types of posts are always a favorite amongst followers and sponsors. This type of content lets your personality shine, showcases fun and humor, and highlights your humanity and what goes on behind the scenes of learning tricks, training, bloopers, and even traveling and getting ready to compete.

So the next time you go to post on your social media, be sure to mix in posts that highlight your personality, your interests, and passions outside of your sport, and feature the products from the brands you love.

Creating a social media feed that tells the story of who you are and not just what you do will help you attract sponsors and fans!
